Providing Companion Care in the Hampton Roads Area
Looking for support for services outside of your home? With companion care services from Essential Family Services, you can get the support you need for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Companion services are services that consist of nonmedical care, socialization, and general support outside of the home. The individual receiving support must be at least 18 years old and will receive services in their home and in different locations in the community. The individual can also receive in-home or sponsored residential services in addition to companion services.
Individuals receiving these services would have a Direct Support Professional who acts as a companion to the individual and helps them participate in the activities of their choosing in the community that peers their age would also participate in. The staff would be able to provide the individual with transportation to and from locations in the community and have a person they can have fun with safely in their community.
